WAR announces the following one job vacancy:
Job Title: PSYCHOTHERAPIST AND DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANT 
(Only female candidates would be considered for the post.)

Experience: Minimum two years experience in DIRECT trauma counseling of survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence

Qualification: M.Sc. / M.A. (Clinical Psychology)

Job Description:
Candidate would be required to fulfill the following functions-
As Psychotherapist: mental health care for survivors of sexual assault and abuse:

  1. One-on-one counseling sessions with survivors and family members using crisis intervention and CBT models in a feminist framework. Providing immediate crisis intervention during field visits to survivors’ homes, if need be;
  2. Family counseling using crisis models;
  3. For minor, using art and play therapy to advance recovery;
  4. Working on client ADLs (activities of daily living) which may be affected by trauma;
  5. In latter stages of recovery, assist survivors in rebuilding lives through trainings (e.g. Peer Support Training), assisting in finding jobs and encouraging other forms of rehabilitation;

 As Development Consultant

  1. Build contacts in the professional community to advance WAR’s goals, e.g., student volunteers through schools, mental health doctors, etc;
  2. Use training in development work to assist the Project Coordinator in developing new projects to advance the mandate of mental health for survivors and others survivors may come on contact with, such as the Police, Medico-legal staff, courts, etc. Trainings may include creating modules for workshops with mental health professionals and other sectors for sensitization toward mental needs of survivors;
  3. Provide feedback on issues such as trainings and upcoming projects in the health sector in the city;
  4. Compile and document projects and researches dealing with mental health;
  5. Dialogue with people working on projects in conjunction with WAR’s agenda for mental health, e.g., journalists, other NGOs, etc.

Salary: Rs. 15,000.
