This workshop, titled Rape Case Litigation- Laws & Practice, was aimed to sensitize Public Prosecutors to the issue of rape and to explore myths, misconceptions and biases on the issue in the criminal justice system. The workshop also aimed to enhance skills around case preparation, covering importance of evidence (especially medical evidence), establishing non-consent & cross examination in rape cases.

WAR requested DDPP Abdul Maroof to conduct a session in the training and Assistant Advocate General, Sindh, Mr. Farid-ul-Hassan and Rtd. and Ex-Attorney General of Pakistan, Mr. Anwar Mansoor Khan were also present throughout the program

A group of 20 lawyers, comprising mainly those representing the State, was sensitized and trained on laws and practices of rape case litigation. WAR’s presence in the courts increased as the workshop presented a networking platform. Lawyers that attended this workshop were all registered in Karachi’s High Court, providing an important entry point to WAR as far as networking for change and advocating for best practices in the criminal justice system are concerned.
