In year 2010, WAR conducted two training and sensitization workshops for the male and female police officers of Capital City Police of Karachi.
Workshop with policemen aimed to sensitize police officers to the issue of rape, explore myths/misconceptions and biases on the issue and promote an understanding of the processes of operations and investigations in cases, for the purpose of improving current systems.
The purpose of the training with policewomen was to sensitize women police officers to the issue of rape and explore myths/misconceptions and biases on the issue. The training also aimed to explore how systemic changes can be incrementally made to improve the workings of and empower the women police force. Skills around writing an FIR and communication with rape survivors were also addressed.
Additional Inspector General Police - Establishment (Adl. IGP) Mr. Altaf Malik and Additional Inspector General Police - Finance (Adl. IGP) graced the ceremony of certificate distribution.
