Objectives
Overall Objective
To address the issues of rape and all other forms of sexual violence against women and children through lobbying for good governance, adoption of preventive measures and provision of rehabilitative services at the State level, and through raising awareness and active intervention by working with all relevant stake holders.
Specific Objectives
- Creation and implementation of State-sponsored socio-economic, psychological, legal and rehabilitative support systems for rape survivors and their families.
- Provision of rights-based Police, medico-legal and legal services to rape survivors by respective authorities.
- Swift justice for rape survivors.
- Containment/prevention of acts of sexual violence against women and children.
- Empowerment of the Women Police Force in independent investigation of rape and sexual assault cases. This also includes immediate registration of First Information Reports (F.I.R.s) with the Police.
- Creation of awareness and sensitivity towards survivors according to their needs in communities (through community participation) and among other support providers, including government agencies, Community-based Organizations (CBOs), NGOs, media, Police and all relevant stakeholders. Additionally, intersectoral networking and building coalitions with other NGOs, etc, would facilitate joint planning and resource mobilization, dissemination of results and sharing of effective practices.
- Research into the causes, costs and impact of sexual violence.
